Khloe Kardashian’s “over-zealous publicists” pulled the plug on Tuesday’s live interview on Sunrise, says the show’s executive producer Michael Pell.
Her Australian rep had since apologised for the incident, Pell said.
Sunrise host Samantha Armytage had just asked a question about North West, the baby of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, when moments after Khloe responded, the screen went black.
Pell told AAP that Twitter claims by Khloe Kardashian that the satellite had dropped out and that her minders did not cut the interview were wrong.
“There was no satellite drop-out,” Pell said.
“Khloe’s minders pulled the plug. They were not happy with the direction of the questions.
“That surprised everyone, including Khloe, who seemed perfectly happy talking about her niece.
“It was a natural, free-flowing conversation, and it was brought to an abrupt end by over-zealous publicists.”
Khloe Kardashian hurled abuse at Sunrise on Twitter immediately after the interview from a studio in Los Angeles.
“Why would I cut an interview short because of North? Get over your self Sunrise … The call dropped… stop reaching for a story,” the 29-year-old tweeted on Tuesday.
This was followed by: “You are so f***ing desperate!”
Pell said there were no plans to have Kardashian return on Wednesday or in the near future.
“Khloe’s Australian rep has since apologised,” Pell said.
Sunrise co-host David Koch said after the interview: “The Kardashians have declared war on us here at Sunrise.”
Armytage said Kardashian, 29, should be aware people would ask about her famous sister’s baby daughter.
“You (Khloe Kardashian) are launching a babies’ clothing line, which you yourself admitted was inspired by your nieces and nephews.”
Pell said neither Koch nor Armytage regrets what was asked during the interview or what was said when the publicists pulled the plug.
“It’s a fair enough question when Khloe is promoting a range of clothing which includes a kids’ line,” Pell said.
“Khloe didn’t seem to mind. But someone on her team apparently did.”
